چکیده

In this paper, we describe a method to represent and classify unvoiced sounds using the concept of super wavelets. Super wavelet is a linear combination of wavelets that itself can be treated as a wavelet. Since unvoiced sounds are high frequency and noise like, we use Daubechies' wavelet of order three to generate the super wavelet. The parameters of the wavelet for representation and classiication of unvoiced sounds are generated using neural networks. Even though this paper address the problems of both signal representation and classiication, emphasis is on classiication problem since some kind of classiier is needed to select the wavelet coeecients which contain the most information for discriminating between the classes. We demonstrate the applicability of this method for the representation and classiication of unvoiced sounds with representative examples.

The fractal behaviour of unvoiced plosives: a means for classification

Investigation of the fractal behaviour of unvoiced plosive consonants leads to interesting observations towards their classi cation. Experimental evidence of the fractal nature of the speech signals themselves, as well as of their derivatives and cumulative sums prompt the use of the associated fractal dimensions to form a discriminative feature set. The obtained feature set is compact in repre...

Rough Set Based Automatic Classification of Musical Instrument Sounds

Automatic classi cation of audio data arose increasing interest recently. This paper addresses the problem of automatic recognition of musical instrument sounds, applying rough set based techniques as a tool of classi cation. Instruments representing wind and string families were used in the experiments. Since the main problem in case of audio data is the proper parameterization, we also invest...
